If you’re unsure of some of the features you will be getting with Linux, this post will cover all of that. Before I continue, I just want to say that Linux has literally thousands of different things you can do with it, but this post is going to focus on the main ones that most people use it for.
- Your PS3 will run just like a PC. All you will need to do is plug in a keyboard and mouse and you now have a PC/PS3 in one console.
- You can run office suites such as Microsoft Office or Open Office. This way you can do your work right on the PS3 without leaving the couch.
- You will be able to run MAME and other emulators. Emulators allow you to play retro games from other consoles such as Sega Genesis, Nintendo, SNES, etc.
- Ability to install the Windows OS. If you’re a Windows user and you really enjoy using their OS, you can install it on your PS3 and it will be just as familiar to you as your regular PC.
- Browse the internet with Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Opera.
- Run your own operating system. If you’re the type that likes to personalize your OS yourself, this feature is perfect for you.
- Download and play music right on the PS3.
- Enjoy over 2,000 other software applications.
- Still have access to all the great features that the PS3 already has on it such as the Blu-Ray player.
